Welcome to American MMA’s homeschool program. For many that homeschool their children, finding a martial arts program to fit their values and needs can be a tricky navigation. You have decided to homeschool your children, good for you. It is both challenging and rewarding. After DECADES of teaching children and talking to parents, I have noticed a few common themes/scenarios on why parents choose to homeschool over public school. We really don’t need to visit the why right now as that isn’t as important as making sure that the places/facility/activities you take your children for education align with your values.
For the parents that homeschool, we have found that it is very important that whatever is taught doesn’t follow a certain current narrative which goes against the core value of being a good parent and would’ve been thought of as a very disturbing disorder just a decade ago. What has become normal is sometimes frightening.
Martial Arts when taught properly has many side benefits besides self-defense. Relaying and having your children implementing those benefits could occur after a few years of training or a few months of training. We want those side benefits to happen asap. So along with cutting edge self-defense training, we developed a 24 point character enhancement program to coincide with a 24 rotation self-defense program. This program will address the most common situational scenarios relating to what is the most likely to happen if your child has to defend themselves.
We also found out after years of trial and error that the best youth instructors are those that have children themselves. All of our youth coaches have children, and a couple homeschool their kids. Which is especially helpful when implementing the character development portion of the 24 point program.
